Calling all innovators, researchers, producers, animators and artists! SIGGRAPH Asia 2008 invites the best and brightest to showcase their most innovative concepts and cutting-edge works in computer graphics and interactive techniques to academics, industry players and enthusiasts from 10-13 December. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to shape the future of SIGGRAPH Asia and this dynamic industry by contributing your ideas and sharing your work. Dr. Tony Alley
Dr. Tony Alley was laid to rest in January 2008. Tony was a key member of the ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee, and was was instrumental in the development of the Curriculum Knowledge Base project

SIGGRAPH 2008 Announces New Format for Computer Animation Festival
To fully represent the growing computer graphics and interactive industries, SIGGRAPH's Computer Animation Festival is expanding into a full-scale film festival that will incorporate curated and competition screenings, discussion panels with filmmakers/artists/producers, and an expansive awards program. In addition, the Computer Animation Festival will be more accessible to the general public than ever before.
SIGGRAPH 2008 Announces 2nd International Animation Contest
(Chicago, IL) - ACM SIGGRAPH announced the return of FJORG! - the International Animation Contest at the upcoming SIGGRAPH conference in 2008. FJORG!, is an "iron animator" event in which 16 competing teams from around the world have 32 hours to create the most impressive character-driven animation of at least 15 seconds in length adhering to at least one of two themes and using at least one of 16 sound bites.
Call for Candidates ends November 4th
The ACM SIGGRAPH nominating committee is still considering candidates for the positions of President, Vice President and Director at Large for the 2008 elections until 4 November 2007.
