Recommendation for Contract for SIGGRAPH 2004 Content Capture
Gudrun Enger presented the committee recommendation for a
company to capture content from SIGGRAPH 2004 and prepare it for
online and DVD distribution. Four bids were received in response to
the Request for Proposal for this contract.
Motion (Enger, Morie) To approve awarding the contract to Soma
Media to capture the content from SIGGRAPH 2004 for online and DVD
distribution.
Approved (7,0,0)
There are two options for this contract.
Option 1 – to pay Soma Media $329,000 for complete production, after
which ACM SIGGRAPH owns and sells the product. With this option, we
will need to spend an additional $20,000 to do our own marketing.
Option 2 – to pay Soma Media $189,000 for complete production, after
which ACM SIGGRAPH owns the product, but Soma Media markets and
sells it and receives 50% of the profits.
These options will be discussed further by email, with an email vote
to be made by May 26th, 2004.
Budget
Alain Chesnais will post the budget online for the Executive
Committee to review.
