ACM SIGGRAPH Reporters for 2002

Reporters are student volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a reporter, your first step is to sign up as a student volunteer and express interest in the ACM SIGGRAPH Reporters program.

Wendy Ju

Wendy Ju is a PhD candidate at Stanford University. Last year, she helmed the Origami Desk project in the eTech exhibits. She is advancing research in the realm of interactive environments at the Center for Design Research at Stanford.

Ben is a graduate student at Clemson University where he is enrolled in the school's Master of Fine Arts in Computing program. His main interest is lighting. Tai is current a junior at Trinity University in San Antonio, where he is majoring in computer science and communications with a new media minor. He is current station programming manager of KTIG, the Trinity campus cable station, as well as president and founder of the school's StudentFilmSociety. He is currently working as an intern at Locke Bryan Productions in Houston, Texas. His interests are anything remotely related to film and filmmaking, and computer graphics and animation.

Jessica Fernandes

Jessica is an undergraduate student completing her final year in the double major Computer Science and Digital Image/Sound and the Fine Arts at Concordia University, in Montreal. She has contributed to various student publications and has worked as a technical writer, a haptic artist, and most recently as a flash demo developper. Her interests lie mainly in 2D and 3D computer animation.

Erin is the Assistant Sports Information Director at New York University, where she is currently working on her masters of science degree. While working towards an advanced degree in digital imaging and design, she also works part-time as a broadcast reporter at NBA Entertainment in Secaucus, New Jersey. Jan is a Distinguished Engineer for TeraRecon, Inc. TeraRecon develops hardware for reconstructing 3D scans and for volume rendering. In past SIGGRAPHs he coauthored a paper on volume rendering, organized and presented courses on VRML and PEX, participated in a panel of graphics standards, and juried eTech.

Our Original Mission:

This program will select 6 students for their computer graphics background and writing ability. These students will be sponsored to attend the conference and tasked with reporting on one of the major conference venues (paper+panels will get complete coverage; sketches, the art show, the emerging technologies area, and the exhibits will also be covered). Prior to the opening of the technical program, they'll cover the courses program. The students will be expected to spend the conference week gathering information, interviews, and photographs of the conference events as credentialed reporters.
