Slices: A Shape-Proxy Based on Planar Sections


Based on a user study which demonstrated that humans share a consistent notion of planar slice-based abstractions, we propose an automatic algorithm to produce abstractions of common objects using their geometric features as guides. The algorithm is tested on a large dataset, and validated through another user study.

Coons BVH for Freeform Geometric Models


We propose a compact Bounding Volume Hierarchies (BVH) representation scheme for freeform geometric models, which usually requires more than 1000 times less memory space than conventional BVHs.

We demonstrate the real-time performance of our algorithms for collision-detection and minimum distance computation for freeform geometric models of non-trivial complexity.
