In this special session Sean Stranks (Compositing Supervisor) and Alexander Seaman (Effects Animation Supervisor) will be discussing about the Visual Effects undertaken by Double Negative for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Sean and Alexander will be discussing the creative processes and challenges faced at Double Negative and the shot work flow from original concept work to realising these in 3D and the final integration with live action shot plates.
Sean Stranks, Double Negative
Sean began his career training as a Junior Editor and in 1998 he took an opportunity to go back to education and learn a new software package called Maya. He was then hired straight out of school and spent the next four years working on various TV and film projects as a Flame/Inferno artist. This work garnered him an Emmy nomination for the VFX work on the television movie Haven (2001). In 2006 Sean joined Double Negative and became an integral part of the company as it continued to expand. He was Compositing Supervisor on both Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts 1 and 2.
Alexander Seaman, Double Negative
Alexander was English born to an American mother and grew up and went to school in London, studied for an Art Foundation at Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication and then progressed to Bournemouth University to study Computer Animation. Alexander joined Double Negative in 2006 and worked on Stardust as an Effects Artist. Since then he has developed his skills in various roles at Dneg and worked an Effects Animation Supervisor on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts 1 and 2.
