My Gasket is one of the
latest in a series of prints that combines an interest in cellular
automata and their relationship to tiling and symmetry systems with
the exceptional quality of printing that can be obtained with high-resolution
ink jet printers. Each tile is permutated according to some simple
system of rules to create a vector (line) graphic image that is
imported into a raster graphics package for further image processing.
Rather than being constructed
or designed, these works "evolve." They envision a time
when computational processes will create artworks without the need
for human intervention.
